Terms & Conditions

These terms govern all pressure washing and exterior cleaning services provided by TrueShine. By booking, confirming or accepting our services, you agree to be bound by them.

Effective and last updated: 21 July 2026.

These Terms & Conditions ("Agreement") govern all services provided by TrueShine ("we", "us", "our") to any customer ("you", "your"). By booking, confirming, or accepting our services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by these Terms in full. They apply to all residential, commercial, and light industrial services unless otherwise agreed in writing.

1. Services

TrueShine provides professional exterior cleaning services across residential, commercial, and light industrial properties. Services may include, but are not limited to:

  • Pressure washing (high-pressure surface cleaning)
  • Soft washing (low-pressure chemical cleaning)
  • Building exterior, house, and façade washing
  • Roof, gutter, driveway, pathway, and pavement cleaning
  • Deck, fence, car park, and commercial surface cleaning
  • Moss, mould, mildew, algae, lichen, and grime removal
  • General exterior maintenance cleaning

All services are performed using professional-grade equipment and cleaning solutions selected for the surface type, condition, and environment. We reserve the right to adjust cleaning methods, pressure levels, and chemical application at our professional discretion to achieve the safest and most effective outcome. You acknowledge that different materials (including concrete, timber, painted surfaces, cladding, and roofing) require different approaches, and that improper methods may cause damage if not handled correctly.

2. Estimates, quotations & pricing

All quotes and estimates are based on the information available at the time of assessment, including your description, photos, and site observations. Unless explicitly stated in writing as a fixed price, all pricing is an estimate only and may vary due to factors including:

  • Actual surface area exceeding the initial estimate
  • Higher-than-expected levels of dirt, moss, mould, algae, grease, or staining
  • Surface condition requiring additional care, time, or specialist treatment
  • Limited or difficult access requiring extra labour or equipment
  • Safety requirements or site hazards not initially identified
  • Additional services requested before or during the job
  • Delays caused by site conditions or restrictions

Where a variation is likely to materially affect the total cost, we will make reasonable efforts to inform you before proceeding, and will seek your approval where practical. Unless stated otherwise, prices are in New Zealand dollars and are inclusive of GST.

3. Scheduling, access & site conditions

By booking, you agree to ensure the worksite is prepared and accessible at the agreed date and time. This includes:

  • Clear, safe access to all work areas
  • Access to a functioning external water supply and power outlet where required (see clause 4)
  • Removing or relocating vehicles, furniture, pots, plants, and personal belongings from work zones
  • Securing pets away from work areas
  • Unlocking gates, entry points, and access routes

We are not responsible for moving, lifting, dismantling, or relocating your property or personal items. If items must be moved to proceed, or the site is not adequately prepared, additional labour charges may apply. If access is delayed or prevents completion, we reserve the right to reschedule and/or charge for time and travel incurred. Where work involves restricted, difficult, or hazardous access — including steep gradients, confined spaces, elevated surfaces, or areas requiring additional safety equipment — additional charges may apply to reflect the increased labour and risk.

4. Water, power & utilities

Unless otherwise agreed, our services use your property's water supply and, where required, mains power. You agree to provide reasonable access to both. The cost of water and electricity used during the service is your responsibility. Where a suitable water supply or power source is not available, we may be unable to complete the work and rescheduling or additional charges may apply.

5. Plants, gardens & surroundings

We take reasonable care to protect gardens, plants, and surrounding areas during cleaning. However, the nature of exterior washing means water and cleaning solutions may come into contact with nearby vegetation. We are not liable for damage to plants, lawns, or garden features arising from runoff, overspray, or contact that is unavoidable in the course of the work. Please advise us in advance of any particularly sensitive or valued plantings so we can take extra precautions where practical.

6. Windows, openings & water ingress

Prior to service, please ensure all windows, doors, vents, and other openings are securely closed. We are not liable for water entering a property through open, faulty, or poorly sealed windows, doors, or other openings, or through pre-existing gaps or defects in the building.

7. Pre-existing conditions & surface limitations

We are not responsible for any damage, deterioration, or failure of surfaces, materials, or structures resulting from pre-existing conditions, including:

  • Loose, crumbling, or deteriorated concrete, mortar, or masonry
  • Pre-existing cracks, fractures, or structural weaknesses
  • Faded, peeling, or poorly adhered paint or coatings
  • Weathered, aged, or brittle cladding or timber
  • Faulty seals, joins, or previously compromised waterproofing
  • Rust, corrosion, or oxidation already present
  • Previous damage from environmental exposure or prior cleaning attempts

You acknowledge that the cleaning process may expose or highlight existing defects that were previously hidden or not visible.

8. Results disclaimer

While we undertake all reasonable efforts to achieve a high standard of cleaning, we do not guarantee complete removal of all stains, marks, discolouration, or organic growth. Results vary depending on the age and condition of the surface, the material, the severity and duration of staining or growth, previous treatments, environmental exposure, and surface porosity. Certain stains — including deep-set oil, rust, tannin staining, oxidation, and long-term biological growth — may be permanent or only partially removable. You acknowledge that cleaning improves appearance and cleanliness but does not guarantee restoration to a "like new" condition.

9. Weather, environmental & safety conditions

All services are subject to suitable weather and environmental conditions. Work may be postponed, delayed, or rescheduled if conditions are deemed unsafe or unsuitable — including heavy or persistent rain, strong winds, thunderstorms or electrical activity, slippery ground, or conditions affecting safe chemical application or runoff control. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you of any delay as soon as practicable, and will reschedule at the earliest mutually available time.

10. Payment terms

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, payment is due in full by the due date shown on the invoice. Invoices may be issued by email, text message, or printed format.

Late or non-payment may result in:

  • Late-payment fees
  • Loss of any discount applied (see below)
  • Suspension of future services
  • Debt recovery action and recovery of associated collection costs where applicable

All services rendered remain payable in full once completed.

Discounts are conditional on prompt payment. Where a discount, promotional rate, or special offer has been applied to your quote or invoice, that discount is conditional on payment being received in full by the due date shown on the invoice. If payment is not received by the due date, the discount is forfeited, the full undiscounted amount becomes payable, and any late-payment fees may also apply.

11. Cancellations & rescheduling

You may request cancellation or rescheduling, but reasonable notice must be provided, and as early as possible to minimise disruption to our scheduling. Late cancellations — including same-day cancellations or failure to provide access at the agreed time — may incur a cancellation fee to cover travel time, lost scheduling, and operational costs. Repeated cancellations may result in refusal of future bookings.

12. Photography & marketing

We may take photographs or video of the work (typically "before and after" images) for quality records and marketing purposes, including on our website and social media. These images focus on the surfaces cleaned and do not identify your name or address. If you would prefer we not use images of your property for marketing, simply let us know before the job and we will respect that request.

13. Liability & legal limitations

Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude, restrict, or modify any rights you may have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, the Fair Trading Act 1986, or any other applicable New Zealand legislation. To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential loss or damage
  • We are not liable for loss of profit, business interruption, or loss of use
  • We are not liable for damage caused by pre-existing conditions or structural defects

Where liability is established for direct damage arising solely from our work, such liability is limited to the total value of the services provided. Any claim for damage must be reported within 24 hours of service completion to allow timely inspection and resolution. Failure to notify within this timeframe may limit our ability to investigate or validate the claim.

14. Insurance

TrueShine holds current public liability insurance appropriate for exterior cleaning operations, providing cover for accidental damage or injury arising directly from our services, subject to policy terms and conditions. Proof of insurance can be provided on reasonable request, particularly for commercial clients, property managers, or contractual agreements.

15. Privacy

Any personal information we collect in the course of providing our services is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

16. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.

17. Acceptance of terms

By booking, scheduling, confirming, or accepting services from TrueShine, you confirm that you have read and understood these Terms & Conditions in full, you agree to be legally bound by them, and you accept that they apply to all services provided unless otherwise agreed in writing.
